The first trailer of Rogue One: The Star Wars Story trailer has landed online. A film directed by Gareth Edward, who is popularly known for his movie Godzilla. The success of Star Wars: The Force Awakens opened up a whole new chapter for everyone’s favourite sci-fi saga last year. The adventure will be the first spin-off film set in the Star Wars universe following J.J. Abram’s new episode of the saga last year.  Rogue One: A Star Wars Story plot follows a group of resistance fighters who set out to steal the Death Star plans.

It is good to see a story that doesn’t seem to have any major ties to the characters of the main series of films, at least not on the face of it. Rogue One promises to be something different from the usual Star Wars fare. This is the first movie not directly related to the Skywalker family, and we’ve heard that these Story films won’t revolve around the Force as much as the others.

Set in the time between Episode III: Revenge of the Seth and Episode IV: A New Hope, as I have already mentioned above, the plot of Star Wars: Rogue One revolves around a small group of Rebel soldiers. Led by Felicity Jones, they steal the plans for the first Death Star that Luke Skywalker and company subsequently use to blow the battle station out of the sky.

Rebel spaceships, striking from a hidden base, have won their first victory against the evil Galactic Empire. During the battle, Rebel spies managed to steal secret plans to the Empire’s ultimate weapon, the DEATH STAR, an armoured space station with enough power to destroy an entire planet.

Gareth Edwards directed Rogue One, and features Felicity Jones, Mads Mikkelsen, Forest Whitaker, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed, and Jonathan Aris.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is set to hit theatres on December 16th.
